BRIDGE CARE · HOSPITAL BIRTH

Relationship-centered prenatal care, and a supported hospital birth.

You've decided a hospital birth is right for your family — and you don't want to sacrifice personalized, relationship-centered care along the way. You want someone who knows your story and remains by your side throughout your labor.

That's why I created the Bridge Care Model.

THE DIFFERENCE

What makes Bridge Care different?

Longer appointments

Time for meaningful conversations — not just checklists.

Direct access

Reach your provider directly when questions or concerns arise.

Physiologic preparation

Supporting the normal physiology of pregnancy and birth.

Trauma-informed care

Honoring your experiences, preferences, and emotional well-being.

Individualized education

Helping you make informed decisions with confidence.

Continuous labor support

Someone who already knows you, by your side when it's time.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The relationship doesn't end when labor begins.

By the time labor starts, I'm not just familiar with your medical history — I know your story, your priorities, and what you're hoping for as you welcome your baby.

01

You call me first

When labor begins, we talk through what's happening together.

02

We decide together

We assess how things are progressing and choose when to head to the hospital.

03

The hospital team leads care

Once admitted, the on-call physician or CNM manages your medical care and delivery.

04

I remain as your continuous support — encouraging you and helping you navigate decisions.

I stay by your side

YOUR CARE TEAM

Working collaboratively, for you.

Melody — your midwife

Throughout pregnancy I'm your primary prenatal care provider, getting to know you, your health history, your goals, and your hopes for birth. When labor begins, I remain with you as your continuous support throughout your hospital labor.

Your hospital team

At the hospital, your physician or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) manages your admission, medical care, and delivery — with all the resources of a hospital available to you. Together, we provide thoughtful, individualized care.

IF SOMETHING CHANGES DURING PREGNANCY

I don't simply step back and hand you off.

If risk factors develop that require consultation or comanagement, I help you navigate that process, coordinate your care, and remain actively involved throughout the journey.

My role may change, but our relationship doesn't. You keep the continuity. You keep someone in your corner.

IS IT A FIT?

Bridge Care may be right for you if you…

Every family arrives for different reasons — the reassurance of a hospital, previous birth experiences, or simply wanting more personalized care. Whatever brings you here, Bridge Care is designed to provide continuity from the beginning of pregnancy through your hospital birth.

Want one-on-one prenatal care from a provider who knows you before labor.

Live in a rural community and want prenatal care closer to home.

Are planning a VBAC and value thoughtful preparation and continuity.

Have circumstances requiring comanagement while keeping continuity.

Are planning a hospital birth for safety, insurance, preference, or proximity.

Have experienced previous birth trauma and want a trusted presence.

Want hospital resources — including an epidural — without judgment.

Feel a traditional practice isn't the fit, but know you'll deliver in a hospital.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Questions women commonly ask

Absolutely. Bridge Care supports informed decision-making — not a particular type of birth. Whether you're planning an unmedicated birth or know you'd like an epidural, my role is to provide education, preparation, and steady support.

Can I still get an epidural?

Your hospital team manages your surgical care. Whenever hospital policies allow, I remain with you as your support person — helping you understand what's happening and remaining a familiar presence.

What if I need a cesarean birth?

A doula is a separate professional hired specifically for labor support. With Bridge Care, I'm your prenatal care provider throughout pregnancy — so by the time labor begins, I already know your history, goals, and what matters most. Many families choose to hire a doula in addition.

How is this different from hiring a doula?

Yes. Together we'll discuss your preferences, location, insurance, and any medical factors to determine which hospital and provider are the best fit for your circumstances.

Can I choose which hospital I deliver at?

Bridge Care is a self-pay service. Many families use payment plans and explore out-of-network reimbursement, health share programs, or HSA/FSA funds when eligible.

What about cost and insurance?
